T1005: Weekly Update March 19, 2018
Post date: Mar 20, 2018 11:36:13 PM
Next Meeting, Tuesday March 20
This week will be focused on planning for the Shooting Sports weekend and advancement items.
Personal Management
At the end of the meeting the group working on Personal Management will be completing the Week 5 activity. This means we will be talking about Time Management and you should have completed the ToDo Assignment (Requirement #8) and the Project Plan (Requirement #9).
Since we are near the end of the “coursework” for this one, a lot of the work now is just the individual assignments. To try and streamline the review process with so many people in the group, Mr. Kostal has agreed to help get through those reviews. We’ve aligned scouts with the following counselors:
For tomorrow, we will do a brief Time Management discussion, then break into two groups for review of requirements #8 and #9. Scouts can view their current status and open requirements.

South Oakland Shelter (SOS) Volunteer Event
This is an annual event for the Troop to support the Church and SOS. The first setup day is Sunday, April 8th at 1pm. The second day, for teardown and laundry, will be on April 15th at 8am. Many thanks to Pam Shenouda and Jon Kiesel for their support in organizing this event. There will be a signup at the meeting tomorrow and all scouts should be signed up for one of the weekends. The more hands we have the faster the work gets done.
Committee Meeting
Next week, March 27th, we have our monthly committee meeting. This is the time we have to discuss issues and needs for the troop. I ask that we have a representative from each family attend. We are falling short of adult support to do some of the programs and to maintain the troop. We need your help and would like to talk about the needs, expectations and talk about how we can solve our current demands. The meeting is in classroom 201/202 from 7:30 to 9pm, immediately following the scout PLC meeting.
Sailing Trip – Space Available
1. For those that are already signed up, you should have made your first payment to Mr. Kravchenko of $150.
2. If you’re not signed up yet, but would like to go on the sailing trip Sunday, July 29 - Friday, Aug 3, please contact Mr. Krueger this week.
This is a very unique opportunity to learn how to sail a 52-foot sailboat; you’ll be steering the boat!
North Star District Dinner
The District Dinner is this Thursday, March 22, at the Club Venetian Banquet and Conference Center in Madison Heights. Registration starts at 6 and dinner starts at 6:30. We have 4 adult leaders being recognized. For more information and to signup: https://scoutingevent.com/272-NSDinner2018
