Post date: Oct 30, 2018 10:30:57 AM

Announcements:

Next Meeting is Tuesday, October 30, 7 PM @ Christ Church Cranbrook

All Scouts should bring their scout books. We will be continuing with advancement. If we have time we be planning for the Wright Patterson Air force base outing.

Due to the requirements at the base we will need to have a firm list of participants. If you have not yet signed up, tomorrow is your last chance. It will be very hard to add folks after we send in our submission.

Upcoming Calendar Events - Please check our Website for the calendar. http://www.t1005.org/

COH - We are planning to reschedule in December. Please let me know if there are particular dates that folks would like to avoid.

Wreath Sales - Wreath Sales have started. The web sales are now live. Online sales can be found at https://troop1005.ecwid.com/Troop-Fundraiser-c25406072 If you sell online, don't forget to tell your buyers to put your name into their order so you get credit.

Our first Church sale will be November 4. Mrs. Simonelli will be emailing the scouts that have signed up.

Scouting for Food - Mrs. Hakim had sent an email via troop track. Here is the email. Please sign up. Dress for the weather.

Troop 1005 –

It is Scouting for Food time again. This is the Good Turn that Scouts all over the state participate in annually – collecting food from neighborhoods to help stock local food banks for the year. Troop 1005 has consistently delivered a truck bed full year after year.

Bag delivery day is Saturday, November 3, starting at 9:00 a.m. until we are finished. Usually 2-3 hours. We will meet in the parking lot of the pool/club house in the Fox Hills Subdivision. The first day is usually a little more labor intensive – requiring more scouts to deliver a bag to each front door of our territory. Bag pick-up day is Saturday, November 10, starting again at 9:00 am until we are finished. Usually less time; about 2 hours. Meeting again in the parking lot of the pool/club house in the Fox Hills Subdivision. This second day is typically much easier, but requires a few more adult drivers to follow the scouts in cars for the bags of food. Here is the link to sign up for the second day, Saturday, Nov. 10: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0F45A5A72BA20-scouting1

Service Hours are typically required for Rank Advancement and even some Merit Badges – This is a great way to collect a few hours!!!

Just bring yourselves – I will have the bags and maps for you.

Merit Badge Mania - Merit Badge Mania is an opportunity for Scouts to meet with qualified counselors and earn merit badges needed for rank advancement. See link for more information. https://michiganscouting.org/event/merit-badge-mania/

This event fills up fast and registration opened today, so if you are interested register quickly. The fee is $15, so even if you can not attend it is not a big loss. A good opportunity to get merit badges on your way to eagle. Please note that there are pre-requisites to most merit badges and it is expected that those will be completed before the event. Also all scouts should have their blue cards with scoutmaster signature ready before the event. Thanks to Mr. Carlson for making me aware of this event.
