Next Meeting, Tuesday, January 9
Welcome back! We have a fast start to the year and a lot coming up. Tomorrow is our next regular meeting, starting promptly at 7pm. It will be jam packed with information.
1. Mr. Krueger will be discussing the summer Sailing Adventure.
2. There will be planning for the caving outing. Tuesday is the last day to sign-up for the caving outing this weekend. Due to the logistics of this trip, the attendees need to be finalized.
3. After opening there is a Parent Eagle Court of Honor Planning for those families that are expecting a new Eagle Scout in the next few months. We potentially an unprecedented pool of 8 Eagle scouts! After the regular close at 8pm will be a meeting with Scouts. Both will be held in Room 201/202. Please look for the email from Troop Track that outlines the agenda.
4. Signup will be happening for the Winter Outing & Luge. Registration is due in 2 weeks on the 23rd. There will be some discussion about this event during announcements.

Caving Outing Details – this weekend – Final Signup!
Our next outing was a huge favorite a couple of years ago, Caving. While we are going back to Marengo Cave, we will have a very different experience than before. This time we will be sleeping in the Marengo Cave. It is the first year in a long time that they have done overnight excursions. This will be very rustic compared to the barrack accommodations last time and we will be alone as a group.
The next day we will explore one of Indiana’s largest underground passages. This one of a kind tour has you crawling, wading streams, scrambling and climbing over a mountain of breakdown into Stewart Hall. This massive room measures approximately 350 feet wide and over 250 feet long with a ceiling height of approximately 60 feet.
I can’t emphasize this enough… we have less than two weeks until this trip. Please don’t delay, go online and register today. If you would rather pay in person, at least email Eric (details below) and let him know you will attend. It will be important to attend the regular meeting next week to plan for the outing. This is a unique outing and it will be important to be prepared. Also, there is release form that needs to be completed for each participant.
Dates: Saturday, Jan 13th (departing 7 am) returning Monday afternoon, Jan 15th.
Location: Marengo Cave, Marengo, IN 47140
Registration: Online (Registration Deadline: Tuesday, Jan 9)
Feb Winter Outing – Registration Deadline – January 23rd
We will be heading west again for our winter outing this year. We will stay at Camp Gerber, in a slightly more rustic accommodation than last year. The cabin is heated but no running water and latrines are a short walk. We will have a very PACKED Saturday. Starting in the morning with Luge. We will have 2 ½ hours to learn on one of only 4 luge tracks in the US. From there we will have other fun activities at the Muskegon Winter Sports Complex and State Park. Then head back to Camp Gerber for exploration and work on the Nova Whoosh award.
The deadline of January 23rd is imposed by the Muskegon Winter Sports Complex. Luge is very popular and we have to give them a final count early so they can sell an extra tickets. We have a maximum of 28 spots available.
