Scouts Kayaking on River

The scouts first met up at East Hills middle school and went on a 3 ½ hour drive to the Muskegon river, got the tents ready and got a good rest before the adventure the following day.

First they all woke up, had breakfast cooked by the scouts and had a well and productive clean up. After some downtime the scouts and adult leaders went to Wisner Water Renting and took shuttles to the river launch.

The crew started off by just Kayaking for 4 miles on the smooth, fast river with multiple currents, but was not too difficult for scouts, said scout Nate. They all then met up at an exhilarating rope swing near a little island. After a short break and lunch the troop then kayaked for 8 miles on the very engaging river. At the end of adventure the scouts made dinner played some games and called it a night.

On Sunday morning the crew woke up and preformed the camp sweep so no trash was left behind.Next they did the traditional thorns and roses (positives and negatives about the outing) and headed home. This outing was very exciting and really did represent what scouting truly is about.
