Troop 1005 took an adventure to Planet Rock on December 16th, located on 1103 W 13 Mile Rd, Madison Heights, MI 48071. Planet Rock is filled with exciting walls. They have anything from small training walls to learn the best tips and tricks, all the way up to walls that are 40 feet tall! That’s as long as a telephone pole! The higher the wall the more difficult the course gets. Also, if scouts were interested they had a chance to climb up the ice wall!

The scouts were able to learn the ins and outs of climbing such as belaying and learning how to tie knots such s the figure eight knot. Rock climbing isn’t just a physical workout but mental as well.

Scout Andrew loved the outing as a whole, here’s what he had to say about it. “My personal experience was great, it helped me overcome a minor fear of heights and I loved to boulder with Kelton. The instructor was chill and we did out climbs, we learned the ins and outs of belaying and the used our knowledge to climb a rock wall. It was a good outing we should do more short-day outings in the future.”
